HEAT EXCHANGERS

Heat Exchangers

Heat exchangers are used to transfer heat from one medium to another. These media may be a gas, liquid, or a combination of both. The media may be separated by a solid wall to prevent mixing or may be in direct contact. Heat exchangers, metal shells and tubes, work by transferring heat from one place to another.

Types of Heat Exchangers.

  • Shell and tube heat exchangers.
  • Double pipe heat exchangers.
  • Plate heat exchangers.
  • Condensers, evaporators, and boilers.

How effective are heat exchangers?

Heat exchangers are used in many engineering applications, such as refrigeration, heating and air-conditioning systems, power plants, chemical processing systems, food processing systems, automobile radiators, and waste heat recovery units.

Heat Exchanger Maintenance

The heat exchanger maintenance consists in cleaning the bundle of inner tubes and the outer shell

Maintenance procedure is carried out in three phases:

  • Tube bundle extraction
  • Tube bundle transport
  • Bundle cleaning
  • Tube insert
  • Inspection and acceptance

The bundle puller is used to extract tubes from the shell by following safety procedure

The cleaning process of the tube bundles are performed by hydro Jetting (high pressure jet) or chemical cleaning based on process parameters.
